It’s always fun to footage of artists when they were young and embarrassing, before they became the performers we all know and love. It’s a nice reminder that once upon a time, most, if not all, of us were uncool.
To that end, you may enjoy this 1992 video Metal Hammer dug up of a 15-year-old, dreadlocked Ville Valo from H.I.M. playing bass in a funk metal band, Donits-Osmo Experience, in Helsinki. The audio isn’t great, but it sounds like… well, a bunch of teenagers playing early-90s funk metal.
Fun fact: I had the same exact Ernest Hemingway shirt Valo is wearing in the video. Ville and I have excellent taste.
