After a couple of aborted attempts, Melbourne masters of metal Frankenbok are hoping the Metal Gods are finally smiling on them with a planned three-day smash and run visit to Queensland.
After heading up the coast to Eleven Dive Bar on September 10 and headlining Moondoll Festival the following day (more details to come), Frankenbok finish the run of shows with a Sunday afternoon of metal at Mo’s Desert Clubhouse with PistonFist, Odius and Beast Machine.

Northern NSW hard rock/metal outfit Beast Machine have emerged from the shadow of COVID armed with a new resolve and a fresh arsenal of music.
 
With a solid reputation for their live performances, the duo have spent the last 18 months readying themselves for when the inevitable time comes that they can hit the road but once more, but rather than store up existing material and delay its release, Beast Machine instead elected to utilize the time to write songs for what will be a new album later this year.

Metal of Honor presented Southside Of Hell, a collection of live metal bands from Brisbane, supporting Black Rheno from Sydney on their National Tour.
 
Mansfield Tavern did a fantastic job of hosting the event, with the venue, food and staff being of fine quality all day/night.
 
Initial gripes: none really, walking in on Dr Parallax’s set was a good way to get a feel for the room, both atmospherically and sound-wise.
