What a shit of a week it’s been.
I have lost count of the amount of shows that have been postponed or cancelled, but what I do know is I should be getting ready to party at Blacken Open Air this time next week, but instead I still don’t know if I will be allowed out my front door… It’s the word we currently live in, but that doesn’t mean we have to like it!

We face yet another weekend of disappointment in Australia, with Melbourne and Sydney currently in lockdown and several other states closely monitoring the situation. There’s too many gigs to itemise, but chances are if you planned on catching a live show in either state this weekend, check with the venue to make sure it’s still going ahead, but I don’t like your chances…

To help ease the pain, this week’s DigiMag brings you all the latest from the local scene, starting with our feature cover story on Brisbane’s A Somerset Parade who talk about their killer new single Alpha and lots more.

Unfortunately that bastard child of no-one COVID has put paid to yet more planned activities. I hate to mention it week after week but until it pisses off and leaves us to our devices it is a sad reality that cancellations and postponements will become more the norm than an anomoly.

Next weekend sees the postponement of Brisbane’s Moondoll Festival, which in turn leads to Frankenbok having to reschedule their three day Queensland visit as well.

The good news as I sit to write this is that restrictions in Melbourne are starting to ease, but the flip side is that one pair of Southerners who decided to make a dash for it to Queensland have almost royally fucked things up here in the Sunshine State. This Sundays Thy Art Is Murder show that was supposed to be at Eleven Dive Bar has now been shifted to Kings Beach Tavern because of exposure risks so fear not all those who had planned to go, all tickets are still valid and the show will go on!

I want to start out by sending a big shout out to all of Victoria. The whole state is in its first day of a seven-day firm lockdown and although we can only imagine how tough it is, know the metal fraternity has your back! This has already led to the cancellation or postponement of a number of interstate shows so let’s hope we can ease the numbers over the next week so the rebuilding can begin.
