On the New South Wales coast in what some may call a pretty cruisy surf town of Port Macquarie, there’s a new breed of punk-infused rock that’s just bursting at the seams and ready to take Australia by storm.
Roxferry is exactly that band and their latest release entitled “Head On Home” displays a balls to the wall slice of fast-paced punk fury accompanied with one hell of a music video to go with it.
Roxferry tells us the track draws influences from acts such as Idles and early AC/DC and while the influences are there, “Head On Home” definitely rolls into a sonic landscape all of its own creation.
The track starts out with a grooving tom heavy rhythm section layered with dissident guitars and vocals through the intro creating space and suspense before the track erupts kicking into gear with power riffing guitars throughout, thunderous drums and a unique vocal style that is just full of attitude.
The guys aren’t afraid of laying down a shredding guitar solo either. Lyrically the song talks about a person who has repeatedly tolerated someone’s self-centred and ego-driven persona too many times, snapped and tore them in half.
Basically, “Head on Home” is a big fuck you letter that all of us have wanted to write at one stage of our lives.
