In June, Rammstein drummer Christoph Schneider revealed that the band has been using the forced downtime from the pandemic to work on new material:
“We have met and we are working on new songs. We want to work on songs. But whether or not it will turn into an album, nobody knows yet.”
Then, last month, a fan site claimed that the German industrial metallers were, indeed, “back at La Fabrique studios, where they recorded their latest album!” But there was still no confirmation from the band…
…until now! The band has taken to social media to make their return to the studio officially official:
The band’s most recent album came out in May of last year; their most recent effort prior to that, Liebe ist für alle da, was released in 2009. So assuming these studio sessions yield a new album sometime in 2021 or even 2022, fans will surely be grateful for the abbreviated waiting period.
Like every other band, Rammstein had to cancel their summer 2020 tour plans. Rescheduled dates for 2021 are here. But don’t be shocked if those end up being re-rescheduled for 2022.
