San Diego-based heavy psych rock trio EARTHLESS have released a new record, “Live In The Mojave Desert,” today via Nuclear Blast (digital) and Giant Rock Records (physical). Inspired by Pink Floyd’s “Live at Pompeil,” the album was recorded live and filmed throughout day and night in the natural amphitheater of California’s Mojave Desert. “Having the opportunity to set up out in the desert and play how we do was one of the best experiences ever actually,” says EARTHLESS drummer Mario Rubalcaba. “Adding to it the Mad Alchemy liquid lights and the surroundings made for a very satisfying day/night of jamming. Thankful for Giant Rock Records preserving the night by filming and recording this. I hope people can enjoy the release as much as we did doing it.” Watch a video trailer below featuring four minutes excerpted of EARTHLESS’ 21-minute-long song “Sonic Prayer” below.
“In October 2020 we filmed and recorded five bands in four days, deep in the deep sand and iconic rocks of the desert,” shares LIVE IN THE MOJAVE DESERT producer RYAN JONES. “It was a major undertaking to bring this many people and this much gear out to a very remote desert location. After nearly 2 1/2 decades of death metal dominance with 9 cataclysmic albums in their arsenal, Norway’s veteran annihilators BLOOD RED THRONE have officially joined the roster of Nuclear Blast! Commenting on the signing, founding guitarist Daniel “Død” Olaisen states:
“Becoming a part of the NB family has been a huge goal for me for years. I always meant BRT deserved better after all these years and when I got to meet Gerardo Martinez (U.S.A. General Manager) and Oscar Martinez (Product Manager) when we toured the US 11 years ago, I kept in touch with them and tried to convince signing us even back then. Years went and albums were released and I never gave up. I knew we had a real masterpiece this time with the new album, and Gerardo simply could not let it go this time. When he sent over the contract, both the band and especially myself were super excited and satisfied. Finally, after 10 years of trying! This band has so much potential and what better option than Nuclear Blast to team up with!” BLOOD RED THRONE spent most of their Covid-quarantine writing riffs and recently wrapped recording their highly anticipated 10th album that’s due out later…Continue Reading

Chicago legends of Murder Metal/Death Metal MACABRE released their demented, heinous bloodbath of an album, “Carnival Of Killers” in November 2021 via Nuclear Blast. Today, the band releases an animated music video for ‘Richard Speck Grew Big Breasts’. In 1996, award-winning news journalist, Bill Kurtis, debuted a series on Chicago’s WBBM-TV displaying video clips of Richard Speck and two other inmates in a staff training area inside the maximum-security Stateville Correctional Center. The footage included Speck detailing how he was enjoying himself in prison by engaging in sexual acts as well as showing the use of illegal substances. Speck’s appearance was noticeably altered as he had used illicitly supplied female hormones to grow breasts. MACABRE’s Corporate Death comments, “I started getting the idea to write this song after seeing the Speck videos on Channel 2 News here in Chicago. We played it out a few times soon after including an appearance on the top-rated Mancow’s Morning Madhouse radio program but only recently has it been properly recorded and released for our “Carnival Of Killers” album. I wanted to give it a punk rock feel, I was going to a lot of club shows then and was inspired by Dayglo Abortions, 7…Continue Reading
