Work has begun in earnest on the first album from Bodom After Midnight, which will actually be, in a sense, the eleventh album from Children of Bodom.
Bodom After Midnight, you may recall, is the new project started by Children of Bodom guitarist/vocalist Alexi Laiho after CoB drummer Jaska Raatikainen, bassist Henkka T. Blacksmith, and keyboardist Janne Wirman all left Children of Bodom last year, taking the collectively owned CoB trademark with them.
To round out the band, Laiho recruited Children of Bodom’s most recent member, guitarist Daniel Freyberg, along with drummer Waltteri Väyrynen (Paradise Lost), bassist Mitja Toivonen (Santa Cruz), and touring keyboardist Lauri Salomaa (Humangod).
Bodom After Midnight made their live debut in Finland last month. Now they’ve shared a photo of Väyrynen in the studio, where they say (as though we couldn’t figure it out) that they’re “recording new material.”
Presumably the record will be out sometime in 2021. Stay tuned for more updates…
